Payback

Kate McCrea · 8/4/2026

Sun tracks down an ex lover who betrayed him and caused the death of his family. Will he have his revenge?

Payback follows Sun, an ex debt collector who’s seeking revenge against his ex lover who scammed him and orchestrated his brother’s death. As Sun is reeling from losing his brother and mother sequentially, he comes up with a plan to get revenge when he sees his ex has become a rising star at Dream Company and vows to infiltrate the company and ruin him. As Sun auditions for the company, he’s noticed by Jay, the mysterious producer who owns Alice, a popular club the company uses for deals. Jay makes Sun an offer: he’ll help him meet the mysterious Director Arthur, but in return, he has to do everything Jay tells him to do. Will the price be worth the revenge? As Sun gets more entrenched in the company, he realizes how shady and disturbing the tv and film industry is. He witnesses the abuse his friends suffer at the hands of perverted producers who are in Sunny’s orbit, and he acts as a pimp, offering up new, young actors to their disturbing cravings. Sun realizes this isn’t just about him anymore, and he wants to take down the animals at the top as well as Sunny. Payback is an emotional rollercoaster that will have you on the edge of your seat. It’s filled with action, betrayal, friendship, and realizing what’s most important in life. Jay and Sun’s relationship is edgy and full of red flags, but by god, they’ll make you colorblind by the end of the series as they grow from partners to something much more. The story wraps up well, with everyone getting their comeuppance, even if a little bittersweet. I thoroughly enjoyed this drama and highly recommend it.
