Can love overcome the class divide?
The Edge of Horizon follows the story of Phob and Tin, who have been inseparable since childhood despite having vastly different stations in life. Tin is the youngest son of the Royal Family, and Phob is his servant. Despite that, Tin and Phob form a friendship that can’t be shaken, despite outside influences trying to keep Phob in his place.
As their relationship turns into a full blown affair, life always finds a way to try to keep them apart. Deceptions, class divide, and family disapproval and a coup tries to keep them apart. Despite that, they keep finding a way to come back to each other.
I adore this series, but it is heartwrenching. They highlight the class divide, the slave system, and the huge disparity between the Royals and everyone else in the country to show why a coup was needed. I don’t know enough about the history to fully understand, but the lead up and the aftermath was well portrayed in my opinion. The Royals were very good at being magnanimous when it benefited them, but overall, they cared more about the appearances of caring than actually caring for their subjects.
For this being Inn and Ongsa’s first project together, they had amazing chemistry and you couldn’t take your eyes off of them. Pond, who played Chat, held everyone’s attention as the idiot brother you absolutely loved to hate. He played the role of an absolute HEEL to perfection. As I stated earlier, I adored this series and it will be a repeat rewatch for me, despite the tears and heartache. Besides the acting, the cinematography was top notch and each scene felt like art. It was just a beautifully filmed series. I can’t wait to see what they bring us next.
