Coyote Vs Acme is bringing pure nostalgia
The setup
For decades we have watched every single attempt Wile E Coyote has made to capture the Roadrunner backfire and fail, and every single attempt had one common denominator. Acme products. Starved and defeated Wile sees an advert for billboard lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte) and decides enough is enough. Acme are going down. Wile teams up with this down and out lawyer to take on the biggest company in the looney Tune verse and their team of lawyers led by Buddy Crane (John Cena)
Theres just something special about watching a cartoon coyote accidentally drop an oversized anvil on its own head. This movie brought back so much nostalgia and made me feel like a kid again. There was a perfect mix of Looney Tune humour with the seriousness of solving a mystery and battling it out in courtroom scenes. while the movie primarily focuses on Wile E Coyote we do have moments for all of our other favourite Looney Tune characters to shine, just maybe not as much as youd have hoped. This may not be the childhood masterpiece that Space Jam was, and it doesn't truly capture the greatness of the old classic shows, but it still brings us the same enjoyment and laughs every time theres a ridiculous gag on screen. This movie seemed to have little to no marketing and I think they just didn't really know what to do with it. If youre thinking about watching it with your kids, don't bother. This is purely for anyone who grew up watching Looney Tunes back in the good old days. I feel like it could do quite well when it comes to streaming, and you should 100% give it a watch when its available, but if your planning a cinema trip while theres things out like The Odyssey, or Spider-Man Brand New Day, then this wont stand a chance against giants like that.
Positives
Pure nostalgia, captures the essence of Looney Tunes. Amazing performances from every single cast member/voice actor. Has a reasonable run time for a modern movie, easy to relax and just switch your brain off and have a good time.
Negatives
Could have featured some of the Looney Tunes characters more. Kids wont really understand the struggle that Wile E Coyote has been through all these years. Definitely aimed at an older generation
Verdict
Could have been better but it was a fun watch and full of plenty of laughs. If you grew up with Looney Tunes you should definitely see it.
