Gen V Star Asa Germann Cast as Angel in Marvel’s X-Men Reboot

Gen V star Asa Germann will join Marvel’s growing list of mutants by playing Warren Worthington III aka Angel. He’s best known for his role as Sam Riordan on The Boys spin off Gen V but joining an already stacked list of characters that are making their debut in the MCU. Asa Germann will make his Marvel debut alongside a cast of other notable actors including Bad Bunny, Letitia Wright, Dane DeHaan, Suki Waterhouse, and many more. Together they’ll bring to life some of the original X-Men characters who have been a part of the comics since 1963. Born into a wealthy family, Warren Worthington III developed a pair of huge feathered wings and became one of Professor Xavier’s earliest students. Ben Foster played Warren in X-Men: The Last Stand back in 2006 while Ben Hardy took up the mantle in X-Men: Apocalypse. While everyone who’s read the comics knows that Warren had some pretty dark stuff going on when he transformed into Archangel (though we don’t have any indication at this point if Marvel intends to explore that storyline), we’ll stick with what we’ve got for now. Germann is just one of the newest additions to this new generation of mutants alongside Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, and Adam Driver is also joining the party as Mister Sinister, giving Marvel an awesome villain already to work with. So who’s doing all this? Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier is also slated to direct the film as is Marvel current plan to bring out the X-Men on 5 May 2028. While the X-men have been floating around the edge of the MCU for some time, this will be Marvel studios attempt to build their own iteration of the team rather then just bringing over characters and actors from fox movies. You probably weren’t thinking Angel was going to make your top five picks for “the team” but it definitely adds interest to see that Marvel doesn’t intend on just copying the line up of the previous movies (with which we’re assuming there will still be plenty of overlap). Marvel has had decades to build its x-men roster, it’d be surprising if they didn’t use that history, and with the cast growing ever larger, you can probably expect us to hear about another X-Men announcement soon enough, too.
