I Peacemaker Is Completely Ridiculous and I Love It
I feel like the whole point of the show is to be stupid and funny, but somehow they managed to create an actual story line. John Cena played a character who is essentially an idiot and made us love and care for his character. He did an amazing job playing Peacemaker because it would’ve been easy to play him as the joke throughout the entire season. I’m pretty sure the cast was awesome overall. If I had to pick a favorite part of the show though, it has to be Peacemaker and Vigilante. They’re ridiculous together. I can’t help but laugh every single time these characters get together and we always know that something stupid will happen.
I was pretty surprised by how great the plot turned out to be. For such an episodic mess of a show, it managed to have some real depth. I thought they did a decent job of knowing when to be stupid, while at other times taking their stuff more seriously and giving us all those nice little emotional bits to enjoy without having our characters reset after every episode.
This show has an amazing sound track! It just fits perfectly and even got me really liking some songs i wouldn’t usually listen to. Also the opening credits of shows I tend to skip once i watched them, but for peacemaker its different. Its one of those few shows where you wanna watch the opening credits every single time.
Peacemaker may seem like a lot of things, from being violent to stupid to funny to emotional to just plain absurd but some how everything just comes together. The characters are brilliant, plots are gold, Soundtrack is one of the best part of this show. I loved it.
Positives
John Cena is genuinely excellent, the supporting team is great, the soundtrack is full of personality and the series balances ridiculous comedy with much heavier character material.
Negatives
The crude humour can be relentless and a few jokes are stretched well past the point where you already got them.
Verdict
Peacemaker takes a character who should have been a one joke thug and turns him into somebody you actually care about. I did not expect that at all.
