Mutiny is basically just another Jason Statham film and honestly, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

This time, Statham plays Cole Reed, an ex commando who gets caught up in a conspiracy following the murder of his billionaire friend. Before long, he's being hunted, uncovering secrets and fighting his way through pretty much anyone who gets in his way.

At this point in Jason Stathams career, the man can turn up in a film and we're immediately expected to believe that he's just some incredibly hard bloke with a mysterious past where he's killed an absolutely enormous number of people, and nobody seems particularly surprised by it. He's an ex commando, so obviously he's ridiculously good at fighting, shooting and generally making life very difficult for anyone who picks a fight with him. It's basically written into the contract at this point.

The film itself doesn't exactly break any new ground. We've seen this sort of story before, and we've definitely seen Statham play this sort of character before. But there's nothing wrong with that when it's done well.

The action is entertaining, the story keeps moving and Statham is perfectly suited to the role. You know exactly what you're getting when you put on a Jason Statham film, and Mutiny delivers it.

It's not going to reinvent the action genre and it's probably not going to be a film I'm thinking about six months from now, but it was fun and I enjoyed it.

Sometimes you don't need anything complicated. Sometimes you just need Jason Statham to turn up, look angry and remind everyone that he used to be very good at killing people.

A fun movie if you just switch off your brain and dont think about it too much
